A diva on Venice

“Venice, the city where I seem never to know if I’m walking through the changing scenes of a play or the dreamlike slow motion of a film.  Everything seems like an apparition floating in time, belonging to a world that exists just in my imagination.  Dramatic images of a theater in flames engulf my mind, reminding me that the boxes of La Fenice are different now, an illusion of the theater as it used to be, which is lost forever.

“But like Venice, the phoenix stands defiant, a proud symbol of rebirth rather than a memorial to the devouring blaze that tried to snuff out its glorious past.”

opera star, author and painter Sylvia Sass in Dream of Venice, now available on Amazon.
